Causality Link, an AI-powered research platform, will likely start to look for Series B funding in March 2021, according to co-founder and CEO Pierre Haren. The Sandy, Utah-based startup aggregates millions of documents in 18 different languages, and uses that text-based knowledge to help analyze and determine causal links between companies and events.
Causality Link, which positions itself as an AI-powered research assistant, completed a Series A round of $5 million as it targets asset managers. The firm is part of a growing number of fintech companies seeking to use artificial intelligence to dis-intermediate external research.

Pierre Haren is no stranger to getting deals done in volatile situations. Haren was in the midst of closing the purchase of a software company he had spent the better half of two decades building when the 2008 financial crisis hit.
